Case Study:
Community Day Care Centre
Expert HR Support to Resolve a Complex Employee Relations Case
The Client
A community-based care provider delivering high-quality support to people in need of a safe, supportive environment for social interaction and wellbeing for a better quality of life.
The Story
Providing exceptional care starts with having a positive, well-managed workplace. For this day care centre, maintaining a supportive environment for both employees and service users is at the heart of everything they do.
When a difficult employee relations issue threatened to disrupt the organisation, the management team turned to HR by Tara for discrete and expert guidance. They needed experienced HR consultancy to help them navigate a sensitive situation confidently, compliantly, and with as little disruption to the business as possible.
Our Challenge
Our client was dealing with an ongoing employee relations matter involving a member of staff who had been the subject of several complaints. Alongside these concerns, formal grievances had been raised, creating a complex situation that required careful handling and a thorough understanding of employment law.
As a care provider, the organisation needed to balance legal compliance with protecting its workplace culture and ensuring continuity of care for its service users. The management team wanted reassurance that every step of the process was handled fairly, professionally, and in line with good practices.
Without specialist HR support, there was a risk of escalating conflict, unnecessary stress for managers, and potential employment tribunal claims.

At HR by Tara, we believe every employee relations case deserves a practical, commercially focused solution tailored to the specific needs of the business.
Working alongside our client, we:

-

Client Testimonial
“As a Trustee, I oversee one of our main locations. We specialise in care for clients living with additional needs.
I have a superb relationship with my staffand volunteers, so I was shocked when my manager came to me with a detailed resignation letter from a key member of the team. We initially spoke to them and came to understand they were resigning due to the behaviour of another employee. This particular complaint was echoed unanimously by the team, with the behaviour of one team member impacting their wellbeing and bullying them into not discussing this with management.
I’d previously owned a business and was lucky enough to have an internal HR team who would assist line managers swiftly, so this situation was out of my comfort zone! So I contacted HR By Tara and spoke with Chelsea. She advised us on the next steps and was with us every step of the way.
From that moment onwards I can truly say that she in particular, and her colleague Tara, went above and beyond to advise myself and my Manager in every aspect of the way to resolve the issue without potentially becoming involved with a long protracted tribunal claim. We also had our reputation on the line if not handled appropriately and at the same time needed to deal with the now very clear anxiety of all our team. Chelsea talked us through all the options, and Tara liaised directly with the employee in question and their solicitor in what became a Settlement Agreement process. At the outset she advised me in detail of the steps required to address the matter with the employee and hopefully resolve the issue without delay. She talked me through all of the possible scenarios and taught me the missteps possible if I did not follow her advice.
Chelsea drafted a detailed paper for me to present and to have signed by the employee prior to them being asked to leave the premises. Another issue came up following this, in that the employee broke the terms of the agreement, another issue Tara and Chelsea assisted with brilliantly.
Chelsea made herself available at all times while also dealing with her young family and other work related matters. Without her constant guidance and support I feel sure we would have ended up in a protracted and costly situation which may, by default, have impacted our reputation.”
