Becoming an employer

You're a sole trader and your business is growing. You need more people resource and are thinking of taking on staff. But it feels daunting...

Come and talk to the HR by Tara team - our mission is to make it easy for you to become an employer and we offer a free 30 minute initial consultation.

We’ll walk you through all the steps involved and hold your hand at every stage, providing advice, documentation and everything you need to take on employees for the first time. Our services can include any or all of the following:

  • Talking through your legal responsibilities as an employer

  • Defining what you need for your business

  • Finding and choosing the right person for your team

  • Agreeing rates of pay and advising you on payroll and pensions

  • Creating contracts of employment and other essential documentation

  • Setting up and maintaining staff records

  • Supporting you with staff data protection compliance

  • Advising you on the basics of health, safety and wellbeing at work

Once we know exactly what you need, we can agree a package of services to support you, with our fees starting from just £245 (for just a contract of employment and onboarding documents) and rising to £1,495 (for a full recruitment, selection and onboarding service).

For all our “Becoming an employer” clients, we also offer a discounted rate on ongoing HR support. For your first year as an employer or until you hire your third person (whichever is sooner) you can access employment advice and basic HR administration support for just £75 per month - which includes us providing you with an employment records system (Breathe HR).
